The UPPAbaby Changing Backpack was updated to improve everyday usability while maintaining the recognizable aesthetic of the original design. Parent feedback revealed opportunities to enhance comfort, organization, and capacity, leading to a series of thoughtful upgrades that make the bag more versatile for daily outings and travel while staying true to the original design language.
Built for Life on the Go
The redesign focused on improving comfort and flexibility for how parents carry and use the bag throughout the day. The backpack straps were upgraded to padded air mesh construction to address feedback about discomfort from the previous all-webbing straps, creating a more supportive carry.
Additional features expand the backpack’s versatility beyond stroller use. A padded laptop sleeve was integrated into the back panel, and a luggage sleeve allows the bag to slide securely over suitcase handles for easier travel. On the exterior, low-profile side pockets incorporate hidden elastic that expands to hold water bottles when needed but lies flat when empty, preserving the clean silhouette of the bag without reducing interior capacity.
Reimagined organization
The interior layout was reworked to improve accessibility and capacity. Two interior zippered pockets, one mesh and one lining, provide secure storage for smaller items while keeping essentials easy to find.
The front compartment was redesigned around common diaper-changing needs. A dedicated pocket stores the included changing pad, while pockets on the opposite side are sized specifically for diapers and wipes, keeping everything needed for quick changes organized in one place. The overall volume of the bag was also increased after users consistently noted the original felt too small, resulting in a more spacious and intuitive storage system while maintaining a streamlined exterior.
